Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation Announces Appointment of Mohammad Abdullah as President of DIDI

 

The Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) Board of Directors are delighted to announce the appointment of Mohammad Abdullah as President of DIDI. The first design university in the region, DIDI’s curriculum has been crafted in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Parsons School of Design, and offers a unique program, firmly embedded in design-thinking and creative problem solving.
With a distinguished career spanning over twenty years in the region, Mohammad Abdullah brings a wealth of strategic thinking and corporate vision to his role as President of DIDI. Having previously built a thriving media community of 1,800 companies during his role as Managing Director of TECOM’s Media Sector, comprising of Dubai Media City, Dubai Production City and Dubai Studio City, Abdullah is also responsible for Dubai’s principal vehicles for advanced academic learning and corporate training at his role as Managing Director of Dubai Knowledge Park and Dubai International Academic City. Joining DIDI ahead of its inaugural year, Abdullah’s previous roles also include; Director of Strategy and Planning and Director of Press at Emirates Incorporated, Abu Dhabi and Head of News Centre at Abu Dhabi TV.
Mohammad Abdullah, President of DIDI, comments on his new role, “As a rapidly-growing sector there is a huge demand for designers in the region. I am thrilled to be appointed as President of DIDI, and hope that through my strategic vision, DIDI will become the region’s incubator for the next generation of designers and innovators.”
Dr. Amina Al Rustamani, Chairman of DIDI Board of Directors, said “We are very pleased to welcome Mohammed Abdullah as President of DIDI. His wealth of experience in the region and strategic vision for DIDI is unprecedented and I am confident that he will serve as a key part of DIDI’s success.”
DIDI is a private, not-for-profit education institution. Following the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, DIDI was established by Dubai Holding and Dubai Creative Clusters Authority. DIDI is accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education and will welcome its first intake of students in the fall of 2018.
